The PHCHPD has been working to build an archive of the history of various former institution for the treatment of intellectual and developmental disability. The Pennhurst Memorial and Preservation Society holds the archive of the former Eastern Pennsylvania State Institution for the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic, as well as the archive of the Speaking for Ourselves organization. Elwyn houses the Elwyn collection as well as the Philadelphia Orphan Society archival collection. Archivists at Elwyn will soon begin to move records from Vineland to create a Vineland collection as well.
